EAST TAMAKI DAIRY CO.
FIRST ANNUAL MEETING.
NEW FACTORY ABOUT TO START.
The shareholders of the East Tam&ki Co-operative Dairy Company held their first annual meeting on Monday evening, Mr. F. H. Leonard presiding over an attendance of about 35 suppliers.
In his review, of the year's operations, the chairman stated that the company had paid its suppliers in cash slightly over Is 4d per lb. of butter-fat, these cash payments tiding the suppliers over "the months of the slump when many were receiving less than Is a lb. In addition to the cash payments, the company was able to double the size of its building and plant without calling on the suppliers to advance any further capital. Mr. Leonard said the company had justified its inception 15 months ago, and had proved the right of a small company to exist for the benefit of its members and for the administration of its own local affairs. It is expected that the new butter factory, which is being erected to enable the company to manufacture its own product at East Tamaki, will commence operating in about a week.
