BATHERS' BEACH PARADE.
WOMEN'S "SCANTY" COSTUME
CURATE'S DENUNCIATION". A vigorous denunciation of bathers promenading in their costumes on the J beach is made by the Rev. N. F. H. War- j ing, a curate, of New Brighton. During a sermon he said he saw two women strolling together in bathing costumes of a scantiness that was improper. There were large numbers of # people about, and the women'u conduct in thus promenading for the obvious purpose of self-display was disgusting. It was a matter upon which one should not bo afraid, especially if a clergyman, to speak out, and make it known that such behaviour had a tendency to break down the moral tone. In conversation with a Daily Chronicle representative, Mr. Waring said he had no idea of implying that the behaviour of bathers at Now Brighton was worse than elsewhere. He did not go on the beach frequently, and the instance he had cited was the first he had seen. But it was sufficient to disj*us,t him, and make him thankful that the lady with whom he was walking was his wife and not a friend or acquaintance. "I am not a prude," added Mr. Waring, "but people are getting away from the right standard of life. We do not want to lay down iron rules, but to get people to strive to keep on the track of what is good and beautiful and vital, and not of what is debased. The human mind inaturauy likes the good and pure thing." J
