Some time ago the Wangamri Sculling _ Committee decided to give Darcy Hadfield another chance to secure the worlds championship title, and as soon as the fact became known' several outeide. sporting enthusiasts expressed the desire to subscribe toward meeting the heavy expenditure that will necessarily be involved. It was suggested Ithat as this was a matter of Dominion importance ' other parts of New Zealand to have an interest in the enterprise. Auckland was particularly.singled out as a possible good contributor toward the scheme and ft• appears quite likely 'that the Northern city will provide quite a substantial part of. The backing. .Several Auckland enthusiasts have, taken the matter up with the intention of getting others interested, while it is believed that Nelson and other parte will also assist Wanganui' in ; securing the necessary funds. ~"' . G: Young, secretary of the Sculling Committee, was? m Auckland, and although no organised canvass was made, Mr. Youpg returned home today greatly encouraged by the hearty support accorded by the few he came m contact with.
