USE OF WORD "CHEMIST".
INTENTION OF THE LAW. [BY __JSG_APH.—PBBSS ASSOCIATIOy.] WELLINGTON. Tuesday. . f Judgment was delivered to-day by Mr. P. K. Hunt, S.M., in a case in which Cox Gordon was prosecuted by the Phar- / macy Board for using the word "chemist" —not being a registered chemist within , the meaning of the Act. Gordon is tha proprietor of several shops, having in '■, charge of each a duly enrolled chemist as manager. The name of the manager was on the door, but nowhere on the shop was the defendant's name. The magistrate said the Act allowed defendant to do as he was doing. The, mischief the Act was intended to prevent was that of an unqualified man using the . word "chemist" as applicable to himself. The case was dismissed, costs being allowed.
