Gamble, of the firm of -, Gamble and Oeed, was travelling home-. ward oh a Wallace Street car, sitting ia ' an open compartment of the tram, having _ placed his bag on the floor between his' feet. Sisddenly a man sitting behind him reached under Mr. Gamble's seat arid-; snatched the bag off the floor. . With remarkable agility the thief jumped off tie car,- which was travelling at considerable speed, and ran down Cuba Street. Mr. Gamble immediately gave chase, but the fugitive managed to elude <»pture.; The jpolice were promptly oommunicated i. with, but so far no arrest, has been made. -, •'■;. The police have a full description of the man wl» <s apparently familiar with Mr., Gamble's habits.
