ILLEGAL SPIRIT STILL.
JWO MEN SENT TO GAOL. ANOTHER FINED FIFTY POUNDS. [BX THLEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION-] MtTECKISON. Friday. At the Court to-day, before Mr. T. JMaunsell, S.M., on the information- of Frank Ojcford, collector of customs at Greymouth, Thomas Henry Bagust was charged with having in his possession a still suited for distilling spirits. Leonard Thomason and Charles Henry Lord, alias Harry "Lloyd, both of Gowan Valley, were charged ' with having in their possession a still suitable for distilling spirits and did knowingly supply an unlicensed still to Henry Bagus',. The evidence disclosed thai'Bagust had bought certain tools, etc., from Thomason and Lord which included the plant. The plant had been overcarried to MurchiiiOii and came under the notice of the local constable. Inquiries subsequently traced the plant to Lord and Thomason who. however, had then left. Bagust pleaded guilty and was fined £50. Lord and Thomason pleaded not guilty. Thomason was sentenced to nine months and Lord, who the magistrate said was the ringleader, to 15 months' imprisonment.
