MATCHES THIS AFTERNOON. The club championship matches, ol th« Auckland Rugby League- will be continued today, and with dry grounds the contorts should be fast and the play interesting. A good standard has been acquired in League football this season, and this is lnsely to bo well maintained. , , The principal attraction frill be the meeting of Athletic and Mariat Bros. Old Boys on No. 1 ground at Carlaw Park. Last week Marist Bros, defeated Ponsonby, and should put up a good game against Athletic to-day. City will meet Ponsonby on No. 2 ground at I Carlaw Park when a fine, bright game should liesult, with City probably in the ejeendant. Newton, which defeated Athletic/ last week- ■ onci. will meet. Pire Brigade at Grey Lynn ! Park when a keen should eventuate, ! with Newton finishing in a winning position. I Devonport United will contest Leaeuo supremacy with Richmond at Devonport.
