CHRISTCHURCH MAN'S PLAY.

G. G. Aitken. of Christchurch, was tho only New Zealander in action at tho tennis carnival. Ho received a forfeit in tho singles and lost a match in the doubles with Graham against Anderson and Spratt. 6—B, 4—6, 6—2, 5—7. Aitken failed to dovetail with his partner's play, but was responsible for tho lion's share of the work. Ho has not yet. struck form, but his driving and smashing were excellent. The victors' play was characterised by steadiness. Anderson is a brother of tho Davis Cup representative.
The ladies' team will take part in the championships on Tuesday.
