AUCKLAND'S RAINFALL.
MONTH'S TOTAL, 4.16 INCHES.
OVER 20 INCHES FOR YEAR.
The total rainfall in Auckland in April as registered at the Albert Park Observatory bv the official observer, Mr. F. A. F. Burnett, was 4.16 in., which, although considerably higher than that for the corresponding month of last year, was J..96in. lower than the figure for April, 1920. In 1919, when dry weather and a jihortage of water were experienced up till May 18, the April fall was only H.l2in. In the corresponding month of 1913 there was a fall of 4.96 in., and in April. 1917, the register was as high as 9.3lin.—a record for the month. The lowest April rainfall recorded in Auckland was .54in. in 1885. The average for the past 68 years is 3.30 in.
Rain fell last month on IS days, the heaviest daily register being that of 1.74 in. for the 24 hours ended 9 ;nn. On April 9.
The total rainfall in Auckland: to date for the present year is 20.52 in., as compared with 9.73 in. for the corresponding period of 1921, 19.44 in. in 1920 and 5.75 in. b 1919.
