THE LANDLORD'S CASE.

Sir,—So much sympathy has, been expressed with the tenant that for the sake of the householder I should like to show the other sido of the question. Sympathy for the tenant, has in many cases obliterated all'sense of justice to ■ the householder. As ah example, I beg to state my own. case. lam a single woman aad the possessor of a housa left to me hy the death of'a near relative,' Not wish-' in/? to dispose of the property and having no other income, I let it at what was considered a reasonable rental, thinking thereby to nay rates aad interest, .and have something toward keeping, mjseif. The last tenant toofc the house" for six months. He stayed five months, but paid only three months' rent. K'ot being in a. position to lose the money I took proceedings. When the case came into Court the magistrate, considered that / tha tenant's income was inadequate to pay the rent and support his family, therefore I wag' unable to recover the two months' rent. Daring that time I had to pay in advance for a room elsewhere, and do forjnyselfv I have never objected to children, but one plea why the tenant oould not pay.the.rent was that he had children to support. I should like to know who is going to let a house to.people with children when '. their support; deemed a sufficient reason for not paying the rent? I am now in the position of having a fairly Urge honse which I could , let. but lam afraid to <3o so. lam forced to believe that should a uimilar case occur, under the present conditions there is no redress for the houneholdor. .'..., A Hor/SEHOMMM.
