SAFETY FIRST.

Sir,—The present might be a fitting" time to impress a note of warning to pedestrians, both great and small, about taking a snare of responsibility on their own behalf, and not got run over. It ap> pears to me many accidents happen through sheer carelessness in their disregard of approaching vehicles. I havo seen several cases of children running in front of motor-cars without the slightest warning to the driver. If people, old and young, will continually run into danger •there will be accidents, many of which are due to easy-going pedestrians themselves. J.S.G.
