CHILD'S FATAL INJURIES.
CRUSHED BY CONCRETE BLOCK.
An inquest was held by Mr, W. R. McKean, S.M., yesterday, concerning tie death of the little girl, Alma Hawkey, aged nine &nd a-lialf years, who died in the Auckland Hospital .on Thursday' as the result of injuries received while playing in a building in the course of erection near ' her home at Summer Street, Ponsonby. The medical evidence showed! >that death was due to abdominal injury; Evidence, was giren to the effect that the child had attempted to swing from a concrete mantelpiece on a chimney partially erected. The block came away when, she put her hands, on to it, and she fell on her back, the block falling on her body and rolling over her head. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence.'
