YACHTS AND LAUNCHES. RACE TO ISLINGTON BAT, VICTORIA ' CRUffIINO Cf.tl3. The Victoria, Cruisins 'Jlnb held » crasinc rs.ee to lalingtcn Bay on Saturdty for yachts and launches, and also Luboar races for open tontß. A light northerly wind prevailed at t'ia start of the races, but joward the finish the ulnd wetfc round to the south. Owing to a large number of boats being away on their annual cruises, the entries wore not aa large as usual. The racing, however, was interesting and some dose finishes were witnessed. The officials for the day wore:— Starter, Mr. T. L. Thompson; judgo for harbour races, Mr. G. E. Laycock; time-keepers, Messrs. W. J. Matthews bud W. Tyson: recorder, Mrs. W. J. Matthews: judge and time-keeper for cruising race, Mr. H. Heweon. Results:—

Cruisers' and Launches' Events. Class I„ keel yachts, brought out Queenie, Restless, and Peri. The boats were sent away at 2.30 p.m., Queenie getting the best of the start, losely followed by Restless and Peri. Quijnie gradually increased her lead going down" the harbour, while Restless drew away from Peri. The finishing times were: Queenie (scr), 5h 54m 465; Restless (8m), 6h 6m ss; Peri (20m). 6h 32m 20s. The result was: Qiieenie first. Restless second, Peri third. Waiteri H.. Sadi>, and Mermin were the only competitors ii, the race for !!6 footers. The first-named got away to a splendid start at 2.40 p.m. Mermin was about a length away, with Sadie handy. Before they had gone very far, however, Sadie headed Mermin and Mcked ud on Waitere 11. Those two boats drew away from Mermin, and there wa3 very little between the leaders until approaching the Resolution buoy, 1 where Waitere 11. increased her iead from Sadie. In the Rangitoto Channel, howeser. Sadio p&soed Waitere 11, The finishing timm were:—Sadie (4m), 6h 4m 58s; Waitere 11, (8or). 6h ISm 655; Mermin (25m), 6h 48m 6s. The result was: Sadie first, Waitere 11. second, Mermin third. The competitors in the race for the 25f. ters were:—Valeria, Venus, Mowai, Rona, a J Dulcie. From a good start. Dulcie crossed the ltne ahead of her rivals, followed I by Mowai, Venus. Valeria, anr Rona in that order. On the lead to the King's Wharf. Venus and Valeria passed Dulcio and Mowai. At the Resolution buoy the order was; Venus, Valeria, Rona, Mowai. and Dubie. Tho finishing times were: Venus (8m), 6h 26m 43?- Vfioria (~"i\ 6)1 27m 58s: Dulcie (15m), 6h 40m ss; Rona (10m). 6h 43m 325; Mowai (6m). 6h 49m 495. The fesult was: Vonua first, Valeria second, Dulcie third, There were only three starters in the race for the 20-footers, namely, Waiapu, Ngawa, and Gloaming. The boats crossed the line in that order, and when they had cleared the flagship a luffing match took place beI twesn iTgawa and Gloaming which enabled Waiapu to improve he* position. Approaphine the Queen's Wharf, however, Gloaming passed Waiapu, while Ngawa _ drew level with Waiap'i. The finishing times wore:— Ngawa (8m). 6h o7m SO3; Gloaming (scr), 6h 37m 335; Waiapu (scr), 6h 5Sm 10s. The result was: Ngawa first, Gloaming , second, Waiapu third. The launch race brought out Maimrere, Florer.co, Imanota, and Ella. The boats were 6cnt away at 2.25 p.m., Ells getting the best of the start, closely followed by Tmanota; th«,n cam? Florence and Manurero, Imanota passed Ellis, before reaching. th« Queen's Wharf, and led for the remainder of the course. The finiahing times were; Imanota (9m). 3b 31m 375; Florence (16m), 3h 3Gm 58s; Ella (12m), 3h 37m 555; MnnureTe (25m), 3h 48m S7s. The result was: Florence first, Imanota second, Manurere tl .'rd. Mascotte crossed the line well clear of her rivals; then came Atangatai, Toss-up, and Miro, with the rest of the boats handy, except Lilac, which had. the worst of the start, Mnscotto maintained her lead throughout the race, while Colleen passed Atangatai on the run to the top mark in the first round. Sea Mew did not finish. The result was: Sea Hawk first, Bea Gnome second, and Dixie The 14ft ono-desiffn race brought out Idler, Betty. Rangi, . and Rex. The last-name? crossed the line first, followed by Rangi. Idler, and Betty in that order. On the close haul to the first mark Rex was passed by nil tho competitors. Raw .assumed the lead at this stage and maintained it until off Birkenhead, where she was ovortaken by Idler. Betty was now lyine third with Rex last.
