f HALF-WAY HOUSE" URGED. [UT lELEORAPH.—SPECIAL REPORTER.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. Reference was made in the House today by Dr. Thackcr (Christchurch East) to the remarks made by Mr. Justico Stringer in Auckland concerning the need for a half-way houso for the detention of old men* who had been guilty of sexual offences and who appeared fit 'subjects neither for gaol nor for an ordinary mental hospital. Ho asked that the Minister for Justice, Hon, E. p. Lee, should see that the recommendation wa* given effect to in the immediate i, luturo on account of the number of these cases.
