The- Australians in their second innings scored 7 without tho loss of a wicket. Tho weather was fino at tho start, and the wicket was good. Frank and Nourse, resuming their unfinished innings, commenced forcing the game. Tho Australians were bowling well off the wicket, with a cluster of fieldsmen behind, tho idea being to keep down runs. Nourse gavo a difficult chance off Hendry at 96, and reached the century in 224 minutes. Eleven minutes later ho was caught in tho slips.

Frank, with his impregnable defence, defied all changes, and the bowlers bocame legsoro and tired. His innings lasted 518 minutes before ho was dismissed at mid-on. His batting was patient and good throughout. In tho raeantimo Mailey had captured Blanckcnburg and Marx, and tho wicketkeeper accounted for Ling. All had a lively timo while they lasted.

Ryder bowled with an excellent turn of speed, and Mailey kept the batsmen thinking. The innings lasted 535 minutes, and tho scoro is tho highest in a test match in Africa.
