CORK HARBOUR STRIKE.
A SHORT-LIVED SOVIET. THE DAIL INTERVENES. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Sept. 6. At Cork, the secretary and 4 members of the Transport Workers' Union;"who l axa ; striking against the Harbour Board for higher wages, to-day seized the offices and ejected the commissioners. They began collecting the harbour dues, declaring their intention to use the money to pay the men. The Red Flag was flown from the offices. The Soviet, however, was short-lived. Most of the subordinate Harbour Board employees regarded the seizure of the offices as? G : lbertian, and in a spirit of jest offered to carry on. under Soviet control.
The Ministry of Labour of the Dafl Eireann intervened, with the Tesult that the strikers consented to arbitration by a board representing the parties equally, the Dail nominating the chairman.
Tiks Cork correspondent of the Daily TeJegraph states that the public is predominantly against the strikers, principally because their action is regarded as treachery to the Sinn Fein.
