OBITUARY.
MRS. H. W. STEBBIXG. Another oid resident of Auckland in the person of Mrs. H. W. Stebbing passed away on Tuesday evening at her residence in Wallace Street. Ponsonby.. at the age of 75 years. The deceased, who was the ■widow of the late Mr. Henry W. Stebbing, was bom at Bishop Auckland, Durham, England, and went out to ' Victoria with her parents at an early age. Fojf some years she resided in the Cen tral Otago district, where her husband was engaged as a member of the Otago geological survey party in 1865. He was one of the first to discover gold in ihat district. They subsequently settled in Auckland about 50 years ago. Mi Stebbing predeceased his wife by some years. The late Mrs. Stebbing recently suffered from an attack of bronchial pneumonia, and later from a paralytic stroke, which. resulted in her death. She is survived by five sons and two daughters. MR. He was born in Caversham in 1875. and graduated at Otago University. He started as a school teacher and later entered journalism as a reporter on the Dunedin Star. . He went to Greymouth seven years ago as sub-edi-Wr to the Star. The deceased suffered a break-down in health 18 months ago. He leaves a widow &nd two children.
