A _ visit of inspection was made by -the officials of the Auckland Rugby League on Saturday to the property in Stanley Street recently acquired by the League from the Auckland Hospital Board. The property, which is to be converted into a" playing ground for League footballers, has been named Carlaw Athletic Park. It is excellently situated for the purpose for which it is intended, and provides sufficient space for two playing grounds. Natural slopes on two sides will give'room for a large number of spectators, and there is alio a. fin* site for a commodious grandstand. The work of improving tho are* will be commenced very shortly. Comiiderable drainage work has to be undertaken, and also a certain' amount of excavation and, levelling prie- to grass being sown on the playing areas, ' The erection of the necessary buildings, including a. grandstand and caretaker's cottage, will' be put in hand' as soon as ths necessary arrangements can be made. The present entrance to the property v, at Gillingh&m Street, at the bottom of the Farnell rise, but arrangements are to be made for another entrance from the Domain Drive at the southern end of the ground.

MATCH AT NORTHCOTE. A League match was played at Northoote cm Saturday afternoon between the Northcote juniors sad * team representing old players. The latter won by 8 points to 0.
