SALARIES OF CLERKS.
♦ CHRISTCHURCH AGREEMENT. [by telegraimi.—press ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. &1 a meeting of the Conciliation Council the representatives of the recentlyformed Clerks, Cashiers and Employees' Union met representatives of freezing works companies and agricultural implement makers. The following rates were agreed on:—Males, first year, 20s a week; second year, 255; third year, 30s; fourth year, 40b; fifth year, 525; thereafter, 60s. Females, first year, , 20s; second year, 255; third year, 30s; fourth year, 355; thereafter, 40s. Males over 25 years of age with five years' experience are to be paid £4 4s, males with five years '< experience are to receive 6s bonus, females with four years' experience ss, and all others 3s. Employees who have passed matriculation or senior Civil Service or commercial accountancy examinations are be paid 5s extra. A4B hours' week was agreed on—no day's work to be longer than nine hours.
