A STRIKE AVERTED.
THE HORAHORA TROUBLE. APPOINTMENTS TO STAFF. MINISTER PROMISES INQUIRY [BY TELEGRAPH.— correspondent.] HAMILTON, Saturday. The threatened strike at Horahora has been averted. The men received a telegram to-day from the Minister for Public Works, the Hon. J. G. Coates, stating that he would visit Horahora and hold an inquiry into the matter of appointments to the staff, and asking the men to suspend any action in tho meantime. A reply was sent by the,men that they would agree to the request, instead of ceasing work at midnight to-night as they bad intended.
