NOVEL FORM OF STRIKE.
RAILWAYMEN WORK TO RULE. A. and N.Z LONDON. April JO. J London branches of the Railwaymen'iJ Society, whose membership totals 50,000, passed resolutions to " work to rule until they receive the full extra pound a week demanded. This is a variant of the stay in" strike, and will result m serious dislocation and delay to traffic, with complete confusion of the service. Similar resolutions were passed in Liverpool. Manchester, Glasgow, and Carlisle. The movement is not supported bv trades union officials. "The strike would result i" chaos and in comic opera .effects in the .London stations, as the rule hook contains 300 pages. A typical rule instructs guards to obtain from the stationmastcr an intimation that all is right before starting a train, and to see that every door is shut.
