SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

Householders will this evening enjoy their annual opportunity of showing a practical interest in the schools. It is a regrettable fact that the election of school committees seldom awakens general interest and in too many cases the result is the selection of committees by meetings which represent a mere fraction of tho people entitled to vote. The apathy of the householders is in itself deplorable, but there is a!so in it the element of danger that small meetings leave the election in the hands of any clique which may have been, energetic enough to organise attendance. If they attend 'thair district meetings, in numbers and cast their votes in strict accordance with their judgment of the merits of the candidates no " ticket " put forward in any sectional interest can succeed.
