Strong southerly winds have prevailed, with cold and showery weather. Conditions have improved to-day in most parts of the Dominion, and the atmospherio pressure is now about normal. Present indications are for strong but decreasing southerly winds, backing shortly to freshening westerly and northerly, weather cold and changeable, but fair to cloudy generally. The barometer has & rising tendency, but is due to fall in the south after about 24 hours.

The Kaiwarra was expected to leave New. castle yesterday with coal for Auckland. She is due about Tuesday. The Opihi left for Opua, Bay of Islands, last evening to load timber for Sydney. From the latter port &he will proceed to Newcastle to load coal for Auckland. The Rarawa. which has been delayed at New Plymouth owing to the railway strike, is due at Onehunga this morhing. She will sail on the lcturn voyage at 3 p.m. REMUERA PUE TO-MORROW. The Bemuera is expected to reach Auckland from Southampton to-morrow. THE MAHENO FOR SYDNEY. The Maheno left for Sydney last evening. She is duo there on Monday and sails for Auckland on Thursday. MAKURA AT VANCOUVER. The Makura arrived at Vancouver from Auckland last Monday. She is expected to leave on the return voyage to-day. THE RIVERINA DELAYED. Tho Riverina was timed to leave Sydney for Auckland yesterday afternoon, but her departure has been postponed till noon to.day. She will arrive hero on Tuesday and will sail on tho return voyage at noon on Thursday. THE FLORA FROM RAROTONGA. The Flora arrived from Papeete and Rarotonga last evening and berthed at the Central Wharf. ONEHUNGA-WELLINGTON RUN. The Arahura leaves Napier for Wellington to-morrow to enter the Wellington-One-hungft service. She will leave Wellington on Monday at 10 p.m. and arrive at Onehunga on Wednesday. She will leave on the return voyage the saEae day and. reach Wellington on Thursday. She sails for Onehunga on Friday and arrives tume on Saturday morning, returning to Wellington on the same day at noon BARQUE'S ROUGH VOYAGE. Tho barque Manurewa arrived from Timaru with produce _ycsterday afternoon and berthed at the Jong's Wharf The vessel left Timaru on Friday, April 16, and j had a very rough trip. On Saturday, AprU 17, a fierce northerly galo was encountered, and the vessel was buffeted about severely. The water tanks on deck had to bo emptied to lighten her. Tempestuous seas continued throughout the following day and the decks were continually awash. The cargo shifted and the vessel developed a list to starboard. The weather moderated on April 20, and" tho cargo was rearranged. On Monday lastthe barque' again ran into heavy weather, and was violently tossed about. The weather moderated the following day. The Manurewa left Wanganui last September to load copra at Nieufou, in the . Tongan group, for San Francisco. During the latter part of the voyage she encountered rough weather and was driven to the northward. The crew ran short of provisions and had to shoot seabirds for food. They were down to their last bag of flour when Sa l [Francisco was reached. The Manurewa. ] subsequently loaded case oil for Timaru j Captain R. Holmes is in command.
