PRIZES ALLOTTED BY CHANCE. [BY. TELEOIUPH.— ASSOCIATION.] WELMHGTON, Friday. Leslie Robert Jones, organiser and secretary of the Lyall Bay Carnival held last month, was charged before Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day with having advertised his intention to dispose of watches, costumes, furniture, etc., by a device whereby such property was to be allotted by chance j with having, established a schemo by which prizes of money and goods were to bo gained by a mode of chance. Defendant's counsel admitted technical breaches of the law, and defendant was fined Si and costs on each charge. It was stated in Court that the carnival was a financial failure.
