THE REFOEM CABINET.

I FILLING OF VACANCIES. SIR W. ERASER'S POSITION. THE DATE OF THE SESSION. ■ [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION?.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. No changes are to be announced in the Ministry for a week at least, and perhaps not until after the New Year holidays. There are two vacancies to be filled, possibly three. Sir William Fraser is to retire from the Government very soon, and, as is quite well understood, he is to be appointed to the Upper House. This appointment may be announced any day now. Sir William will continue in the Ministry until the arrangements are complete for the new Ministers to take office. N Most people assumed that the result of the elections would leave the Government without an absolute majority of the votes in the House, although it was also assumed that the Massey party would be the strongest party. If this had so turned out an early short ' session would have been necessary. Noth- ' ing of the sort will be needed now, but the Prime Minister told the House last session that it would be necessary for 1 Parliament to meet early in the coming ' year, and that members might come prepared' for a six months' session. This , should mean that the new House will meet in April or May. ————— m^
