The heavy rain on Saturday morning which prevented any cargo wc*k being dona on vessels m port, resulted in the departure «Lii mim ir !!r *?'• vea^ els bem? further postponed. The sailing t*mes ofthe Union Company s -vessels have been fixed as follows: — wavua, for Southern ports, at 3 p.m. to-day; Arahura. for East Coast, and Moeralti. for Sydney, at 8 P.m. to-day; Whangepe. for Papeete, and Komata, for Westport, 'at noon to-morrow, the_ Paloona. for Fiji. Bakanoa and Karon, for Newcastle, noon on Wednesday.; Mokoia, for Southern ports, 3 p.m.. on Thursday. THE TALUNE. The Island steamer Talune arrived from Fiji yesterday morning, and anchored in the stream for medical inspection. She afterwards berthed at th© Queen's Wharf to land her passengers and cargo. Moderate weather was experienced among the Islands, and heavy rain at all porta. On the run from Suva to Auckland fine weather wan experienced until Saturday evening. Then, a strong easterly gale with a very ke*vy p«a w*s experienced. The wind rose with, unusual suddenness. At 6 p.m. it was fresh, at 8 .p.m. it was blowing & severe gale, and by 10 pjn. bad reached almost hurricane foroo. Th« heavy sea, caused the vessel to labour heavily and to abip * considerable amount of water. No damage was done, but the roiling caused the fruit cargo to shift to one aide, and the vessel reached port with, a decided list. After discharging her fruit and general cargo at the wharf she will go to Chelsea to land a quantity of sugar. Her departure for the Islands has been fixed for next Friday.

THE HORORATA. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Hororata, which brought troops to Wellington, where ehe al£o discharged the southern portion, of her cargo troni England, arrived here early-on Saturday morning, She anchored in the stream untu ttto alteraoon, when she went into dock for cleaning,' painting, and minor repairs. She is expected to come out or dock to-morrow. And will probably berth at the Queen's Wharf to complete discharge o( her cargo for New Zealand. The Hororata left London on July 26 for Plymouth, where she armed on July 27. Returning troops and 60 repatriated munition workers were embarked, and she eailed again on July 28. Fine weather prevailed till .arrival at Capetown on August 17. As there was no bunker'coal available at that port the Rororata sailed on the following day for Durban, where she arrived on August 21. After loading 3600 tons of bunker coal the vessel resumed her voyage on August 27. The usual north-west to south-westerly strong winds and galea were experienced running along 48 degrees south latitude. Hobaxt was reached on September 13. About 272 tons of cargo was discharged there, and the Hororata sailed again on September IS. Exceptionally fine weather prevailed in the Tasman Sea- She averaged 14.1 knots from the Tasmanian port to Wellington, which » a highly creditable performance, considering that the vessel was not deeply loaded.
