For some reason that, is still obscure j only murderers are allowed to wear cer- ! tain highly-prized feathers and other insignia among the Koriari tribe in Papua. j The Lieutenant-Governor of Papua in I a recent report to the Minis ter-in-Charge, ; states that since 1914 no less than 15 i members of this tribe have been sentenced Ito death for murder. Five of these men 1 have been hanged, and the sentences of the others have been commuted to long terms of imprisonment.
