NO WATER AVAILABLE. [by telecbapb.—own co-respondent.] WANGANUI, Tuesday. As the result of a fire at Kakaramea, Mr. Burgess and family were burned out. Mrs. Burgess was sitting on the verandah when she observed smoke coming through the door. Owing to the absence of water, nothing could be done, and the family could only stand and watch their homo and contents being consumed. The loss is very heavy, the piano alone being valued at £100- . The cause of the firo ib attributed to a defective chimney. Mr. Ayers, of Whenuakura, was tho loser on Sunday morning of a valuable haystack It is thought that the fire i occurred as a result of the hay becoming overheated.
