SHIP ON FIRE AT SEA.

SYDNEY-BOUND STEAMER.

OUTBREAK UNDER CONTROL A. and N.Z. SUVA. Mar. 18. A wireless message, received at 11.20 laijt night, stated that the steamer J. A. Cox, from Pago Pago, bound to Sydney in charge of Captain Anderson, was on fire in the forehold, owing to the ignition of phosphorus. Arrangements were made for the steamer Levuka to render assistance. At 3.40 a.m. to-day, a further wireless message reported that the fire was under control and the voyage resumed Sydney-wards. The J. A. Cox is reported to have left San Francisco early in February for Pago Pago, Samoa, where she was to load for Sydney.
