ITALY'S TREATY CLAIMS.
STANDING BY 1916 DEMAND
UNITED STATES DISSENTS.
POSSIBILITY OF DISPUTE.

It is understood that the American representatives on the Greek Commission are opposed to upholding the Italian treaty of 1915, on the ground that it conflicts with Mr. Wilson's 14 points. It is believed that the report of the commission will be based on the integrity of the treaty, leaving the Council of Ten to adjudicate on the objection.
Signor Orlando and Baron Sonnino have returned from Italy. They have exchanged views with representatives of the leading Powers, pointing out that Italy will stand firm on securing Fiume. It is rumoured that if Italy fails in her aspirations, it may seriously affect her attitude towards her confederates.
