TRADE WITH AUSTEALIA
INTEREST IN AMERICA. REPORT OF AN EMBARGO, Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, Mar. 15. The officejof Mr. H. Y. Braddon, Australian Trade Commissioner, has been besieged by business men asking for confirmation of- a press report cabled on March 8 that the Commonwealth had declared an embargo on imports save of British origin. Mr.' Braddon informed inquirers that he had cabled to the ••nfnment for the facts.
The Department of Commerce has also been flooded with inquiries. The officials have instituted an inquiry through trade and diplomatic channels to determine the truth of the report.. In tho absence of official confirmation the Department believes the report is not true. It is believed that Australia has prohibited only the importation of dye stuffs.
