HOTELS TO BE CLOSED.
SHUT FROM NOON TO-DAY.
ORDER AFFECTS BOARDERS.
In consequence of the arrival in Auckland to-day of a largo number of soldiers from the front, all licensed hotels within a 25-milo radius of the chief post oflici< are to be closed from 12 noon until 10 p.m. In the ordinary course of events, Itlie hotels would close for the sale of liquor at 6 p.m. The. order for tho closing of the bars day means that hoarders at hotels will not be able to secure alcoholic liquor until 10 p.m., when the prohibition, as far as they aro concerned, will bo removed. Tho object is to prevent soldiers who are compelled to spend the night in Auckland before returning to their homes in tho outlying districts in the Auckland Province, and who stay at licensed houses, from securing liquor.
