DEPARTMENTAL DENIAL.

The Defence Department gives a complete denial to the allegation of Mr. H. Holland regarding the case of Lieutenant Crampton, that papers containing admissions by Lieutenant Crampton before the court-martial at Samoa had not been submitted to the magistrate conducting the inquiry. The statement of the Department is that every scrap of paper regarding Lieutenant Crampton haa been, before Mr. Hewitt, S.M., when he was making the inquiry.
