HEROIC FRENCH AIRMAN.
RESCUE OF A COMRADE. A. and N.Z. PARIS, June 18.
A gallant feat was performed by Lieutenant. la Rochefoucault. While acting as observer his aeroplane foil abruptly 20 yds from the German lines, the pilot being wounded. Rochefoucault dragged the pilot from the machine, then ignited it and carried his comrade through a terrific hail of shells and machine-gun fire into the French lines. He was immediately decorated with the Cross of the Legion of Honour.
