Manaia, which has been undergoing her annual overhaul during the last fortnight, is to resume her running to Whangarei to-day. The Ngapuhi, which has been relieving the Manaia, will re-enter the Tauranga trade. The Aupouri. which has been relieving the Ngapuhi, is to be laid up indefinitely. Captain J. F. Spring-Brown has taken -command of the Wellington-Lyttelton ferry steamer Mararoa, in place of Captain W. D. Cameron/ who has gone on holiday leave. Mr. W. McN. Sneers joined the Monowai as purser at Duneain. relieving Mr. Callis, who has crone on holiday leave. Over 77 masters and deck officers on. the Union Company's staff have gone on active service. The majority joined the navy, while a number of those, who joined the Expeditionary Forces were afterwards transferred to the navy. The casualties so far have been three killed in action, one died of wounds, and six wounded. Those killed are Lieutenant-Commander W. E. Sanders, T» 5.0.. V.C. Mr. F. A. Clark »nd Mr V. J. The Government steamer Hinsmos, is due to-day from the Ea«H; Coast lighthouses. She is to commence taking in stores to-morrow morning, and is to sail for the Gulf and Northern lighthouses later.
