BILLIARDS.
NOTES AND COMMENTS.
The, billiard match at Melbourne between the Lindrum brothers, resulted in a victory for bred., the Australian champion, who scored 14,000 .to Walter's 13.720-4 remark ably close finish for such a lengthy game. Although no striking breaks were made the players were very consistent, and in one day Walter scored nine centuries, while Fred, scored eight. Most of the scoring was done at the top 0 the table, and close cannons were a feature of the game- , George Gray who has been seeking to improve his health by a three monthssojourn on a farm, started a game in Melbourne, against his father. Harry Gray. Gray, sen., has a start of 6000 ; n 12.000. and the scores at present are:—Harry Gray 9000; George Gray. 2814. The form shown so tar by the scratch man is deplorable, and in four sessions he never scored a century break. Whether his form is irrecoverable will be shown during the next few months ■when he will be touring Australia with EJ. Campbell, the Victorian champion, who is well known in New Zealand, where he resided for many years. Mr. J. R. Hooper, the ex-Aucklander and present amateur champion of Australia. _ recently p'ayed a game, at Newcastle against Mr. B. Thompson, to whom he gave a start of 200 in 750 up. Hooper won by 163, making breaks of 111. 105, 82. and 79. There is talk of his returning to New Zealand, where he would be a great acquisition to the game.
