The Auekiand Returned Soldiers' Asbo- ■ ciation invito the citizens of Auckland to ( attend a Public Meeting at the Town Ball TO-NIGHT (Friday), to consider the question of raising funds for Erection of Permanent Club in Auckland. The Returned Soldiers' Association proposes to take immediate steps to perpetuate the memory of fallen heroes by providing _ a commodious hall, with the necessary [ offices, where returned men may r.eet to ', discuss matters of business, and for purr poses of social intercourse and comradeship. The Returned Soldiers' Association _ is strongly of opinion that the matter of an adequate fitting soldiers' memorial may he smothered in a flood of complimentary talk unless the Association keeps it steadily in view. The comradeship of brotliws-in- , arms will not end with the war, and for j, that reason alone a permanent meetingplace is both desirable and necessary. . It is hoped that wives, mothers, fathers, and sisters of absent soldiers will make a special effort to be present. Seats will be reserved for next of kin of men who have Riven their lives for the Empire during the present war. tickets f for these seats will be obtained on applica- *' tion at the Soldiers' Club.
