PROVISION FOR SOLDIERS.
SOUTH AFRICAN SCHEME.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association, (feccd. 7.80 p.m.) CAPETOWN. Jan. 30. The House of Assembly has appointed a Select Committee to report upon the question of provision for returned soldiers, with particular reference to training them and assisting them to return to civil occupations. Mr. Hertzog opposed the scheme on the ground that it was not in the interests of the country to do anything to encourage a continuance of the war.
