PRIVATE HOTELS.

INCREASE OF TARIFF. Owing to the decision o'i the Arbitration Court to incrcaso the wages of the employees of the private hotels by from 20 to 25 per cent., as from January£B, 1918, a meeting of proprietors was held on Friday, 25th inst., at which it was unanimously decided to increase the tariff all round by 6d'- per day on permanents, and Is per day on casuals, as from Monday, 28th inst. The. proprietors deeply regret having; to adopt this course, it being impossible to continue on the old lines, owing to tho enormously increased cost of commodities and labour.
