Strikes are in progress in Berlin affecting 100,000 workers, including many women. The German Electric Company's mammoth works are closed. Strikes have occurred also at Krupp's coal mines, at Bochum, near Essen, the torpedo factory at Kiel, and the Germania shipyard.. Admiral von Capelle, Secretary to the Navy, has gone to Wilhelmshaven to urge the workers at'the -naval yards to remain at work, telling them that otherwise they will be guilty of treason.
