NORTH AUCKLAND SOLDIER. Cabled advice has been received by Mr. W. Ingrain, of Marohemo, Kaipara, and formerly of Avondale, that his son Christopher, who is on active service, has been promoted to the rank of captain, and lias been awarded the Military Cross. Captain Ingram, who left New Zealand as second-lieutenant, was wounded at the Somme, and has since taken part in the fighting at Messines and Yprcs. For a time ho was acting-adjutant, and recently was appointed quartermaster of the Auckland Battalion.
