Commenting 011 the fact that His Majesty the King has conferred the rank of FieldMarshal on the Mikado, the Japanese newspapers declare that it is a unique episode in the relations of Great Britain and Japan, and is an event in the. history of Japan which should bo " marked with a white stone."
