FLOOD DEVASTATION.

MAGE IN MACKAY. TOWN SWEPT BY GALES. NINETEEN BODIES RECOVERED. A. and N.Z. BRISBANE, Jan. 29. Muttaburha township is flooded, cutting off all communication with Northern Queensland. The Mackay Standard of January 26 states that a break in the fine weather occurred on the 4th, when a cyclone struck the town. Od the 19th i( was blowing from the south, and later from the east, then from the north, to which is due the great extent of the damage. The main portion of the town is in ruins, scarcely one building escaping. The cyclone continued with unabated force for fourteen hours, the rainfall for 18 days being nearly four feet. So far 19 bodies have been recovered. It is understood that Townsville escaped. The coastal shipping services are becoming normal.
