LAST PENALTY PAID.
EXECUTION OF MURDERER. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9 D.m.) MELBOUIvXE, Jan. 29. The condemned man Budd, found guilty of the murder of Mrs. Sampson on October ' 21, was executed to-day. Mrs. Sampson, secretary of the Port Melbourne Labour League, and a prominent Red Cross worker, whose husband was at the front, was found dead in her home on October 21. with her throat cut. Budd. a returned soldier, who had previously boarded with the Sampsons, was found in his lodging? with his throat gashed. Upon recovery he was found guilty of murder.
