MISHAP TO THE MAORI

CASTS A PROPEUOR BLADE. LYTTELTOX TRIP PROLONGED. [TIT TELEGRAPH.—mESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The ferry-steamer Maori did not put in an appearance at Lyttelton this morning until eleven o'clock. The delay was due to tho vessel having cast a blade of the centre propellor when just outside Wellington Heads. Passengers stale that they felt a shock, and immediately afterwards the engines raced. There was no excitement, and the vessel proceeded on her course to Lyttelton at a reduced speed, the trip, occupying about 15 hours. The propellor could not be repaired to-day, the dry dock being occupied. Consequently the Maori left for Wellington to-night with only her starboard and port pronellors in use. She will probably be docked at Lyttelton on Thursday.
