FRIDAY. FEBRUARY 1. The Auckland Returned Soldiers' Asso:iation invite the citizens of Auckland to ittend a Public Meeting at the Town Hall sn FRIDAY. February 1, to consider the juestion of raising funds for Erection of Permanent Club in Auckland. The Returned Soldiers' Association proposes to take immediate steps to perpetuate the memory of fallen heroes by providing а. commodious hall, with tho necessary offices, where returned men may meet to discuss matters of business, and for purposes of social intercourse and comradeship. Tho Association is strongly of opinion that tho matter of an adequate fitting soldiers' memorial may be smothered in a flood of complimentary talk unless the Association keeps it steadily in view. The comradeship of brother s-in-arms will not' end with tho war, and for that reason alone a permanent meeting place is both desirable and necessary. It is hoped that wives, mothers, fathers, and sisters of absent soldiers will make a special effort to be present. Seats will be reserved for next of kin of men who have given their lives for the Empire during the present war. Tickets for these seats will be obtained on application at the Soldiers' Club.
