RED CROSS BENEFIT.

FAIR AT POINT CHEVALIER.

A Rep Cross Fair, organised by the Auckland Women's Patriotic League, was held at the Point Chevalier reserve yesterday. There were about 2000 people present. The fair was opened by Mr. C. J. Parr, M.P., who referred to the work of the Red Cross at the front, and expressed the hope that the organisers of the fair would bo fully repaid for the time and trouble which they had expended. The stalls and competitions were well patronised. Throughout the day various entertainments, such as displays of wrestling, boxing, Scotch dancing, tug-of-war, and children's sports were carried out- Marvou, the well-known wire-walker, gave several exhibitions. Musical items were supplied by the Dark Town and the Kazoo Bands. The result of the fair is not yet available, but it is .ho"ped that the funds will benefit to_a very considerable extent.
