MOTOR AND TRAM COLLIDE. MOTHER AND BABY HURT. [BT TIXEGB APH. —FBES3 ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Monday.' A motor-cab and a tram collided at Island Bay to-day. The motor-car contained Mr. and Mrs. John Watton, their children, two adult friends, and the driver. Mrs. Whatton'g Bhoulder was injured, and her Baby received injuries to its head. The infant was removed to the hospital, where an operation was performed. TWO JOCKEYS INJURED. FALLS AT TAXAPUNA RACES. Two accidents occurred at the Takapuna Jockey Chub's meeting yesterday. During the running of tho Rangitoto Handicap, three of the contesting horses— LoughEnnell, Patetonga, and Meltonio— fell, and the first-named met with such injuries that he had to be destroyed. J. Conquest, who had the mount on Lough Ennell, had his collarbone broken, and suffered from severe concussion. The other riders experienced severe shakings. Sylvan' Knight fell during the Takapuna_ Maiden Hurdle Race, and his rider, H. Turner, sustained a .broken collarbone, and also offered concussion. JUMP FROM A FERRY-BOAT. ■ - A ropeworks employee, Mr. William Hendrick, aged 38, residing at 6, Vincent Street, was admitted to the district hospital at 7.45 p.m. yesterday suffering from injuries to his side. He was returning from the North Shore by ferry-boat, and on tie vessel approaching tho Auckland ferry wharf he jumped ashore. In doing so he struck some obstacle. His exact injuries had not been ascertained last night, but it was thought possible that ho had sustained a fracture of tho ribs. The patient will be placed under the X-rays to-day. MOTOR-CYCLISTS HURT.

COLLISION AT EAST TAMAKI. Two farm-hands, Septimus Gillard and,, Andrew Stancorabe, each aged about 18 years, whilst riding motor-cycles at East lamaki yesterday evening came into collision, with the result that both were rendered unconscious. They were picked up by a resident of the district, who con» vey ea them to the district hospital. The two youths were still in a semi-conscious condition on arrival at the institution at 9.30 p.m. Both were found to have sustained severe bruises, Gillard having suffered & bad injury to the forehead.
