HELENSVILLE SHOW.

'RECORD HORSE ENTRIES. _______ IMPROVEMENT IN QUALITY. ill ■ ' The Helensville Agricultural and Pastoral Association's 19th annual show was held yesterday. The weather was threatening "i-lf® all day, but the rain held off until about Sift six o'clock, .by which time the ring events had all been decided. The attendance was almost up to that of last year, and was 'WM helped, no doubt, by the augmented railway service, which was in force. . Entries in the cattle classes showed a slight falling -$3 off, although this was largely balanced by ,' : "VV the improvement shown in the quality of the stock. The exhibits in the horse classes, on the other hand, exceeded those of last year, which then constituted a record, by over 70, and the judges commented very : J0 favourably upon the appearance and condi. >' :i tion of the animals shown. Great local in- > terest centred in the exhibits displayed in the horticultural hall. Keen competition was shown in the home industry classes, and in the horticultural section the display of • i '.' pot plants was the best seen in the district tor many years. During the day music was supplied by the Ponsonby Boys' Band. Awards were made as follow:— HORSES. Draught Stock.—Colt, gelding or filly, lyr: . . • W. D. Smith, 1; H. Aitkenhsad. 2.
