RED CROSS CONCERT.

The concert-given at the Town Hall concert chamber last night by Miss Thelma Gallaher and local artists, in aid of tha Red Cross funds, was fairly well attended. The excellence of the programme wa3 worthy of a larger audience, bat thcsa present were warmly appreciative. Mis 3 Gallaher, a very accomplished young pianiste, made a marked impression. She opened with Beethoven's " Moonlight Sonata," playing the three movements with rare expressiveness. Rachmaninoff's tragic "Prelude, C Sharp Minor," Chopin's " Valse, C Minor." and Liszt's nocturne, " Dream of Love," wero bracketed. All were played artistically, and in the Chopin number Miss Gallaher obtained a beautiful liquid tone. Two compositions of MacDowell's, six of Chopin's, two more by Liszt, one by X ogrich, and Mendelssohn's " Spinnerlied, _ by way of finale, comprised the remainder of the pianiste's contributions. Her entire performance in this varied programme was admirable. Miss Jessie Bartlett s contralto solos included "Hindoo Song," by Bemberg, " Love's Coronation, " and "An Old-fashioned Town." 'The first two had the advantage of violin obligatos by Miss Ava Symons, with Miss Gallaher as accompanist. All were cordially applauded. Miss Symons played the volin solos, ," Allegro Maestoso" from Beriot's "Ninth Concerto," and Svendsen's " Romance," in a distinctly talented manner. Mr. Arthur Ripley, tenor, sang with expression Liza Lehmann's " Moon of My Delight," and Jacobs-Bond's "0, Haunting Memory," besides Newton's duet, " A Madrigal in May," with Miss Bartlett. Mr. Alan McElwain was stags manager.
